INTEGRATED DESIGN & TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

INTRODUCTION:

A six months Integrated Design & Technical Development project on Artistic Tribal Textile Crafts was organised during 1st February, 2014 to 31st July, 2014 at Lingsiphai village of Churachandpur District of Manipur under the supervision of Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Imphal.

Training under IDTDP was organised by Society’s Abbatial Network for Greater Advancement (SANGA), sponsored by Office of the Development Commissioner(H), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, New Delhi vide sanction order no. J-12012/160/2012-13/DS(NER)/3448 Dated 30-10-2012 at Kangvai village.

Participants:

All participants (50 artisans) participating in the project “ Artistic Tribal Textile Crafts” belong to Churachandpur District of Manipur.
Objectives:

The main objectives of the training programme was to make improvement and diversification of their talents in the field of Hand Embroidery by introducing new innovative designs and technology interventions to make the demands of the market and also to establish credit linkage with the regional banks.

Development of new designs in the field of Artistic Tribal Textiles Crafts aims to enhance the sales of Handicrafts in domestic and international markets.
INAUGURAL FUNCTION:

6 months Integrated Design & Technical Development Project in Artistic Tribal Textile Crafts was inaugurated by Shri Mani Singh, Circle Manager, Manipur Cooperative Society, Govt. of Manipur as Chief Guest at the Function. Shri T.Rollee Vareishim, Asst. Director (H) has attended the Inaugural function as Guest of Honour, and Shri Th. Inaotombi Singh, Manager, Manipur Rural Bank, Moirang also graced the inaugural as Functional President. Other dignitaries like Smt. Agnibala Devi, Investigator, O/o DC(H), Dr.Th Upendra Singh, Empanelled Designer, Shri K.Paul, Secretary, Lingsiphai Village Authority, K.Chung, President, Young Vaiphei Association (YVA) and several Chiefs of the surrounding villages have graced the Inaugural function.

Shri T.Rollee Vareishim, Asst. Director, Office of the Development Commissioner (H), Imphal explained in detail, the aims and objectives of Integrated Design & Technical Development Project and the importance of having awareness in Artistic Tribal Textile Crafts and the possibilities of turning their potentials into professions and upgrading their level of livelihood by embracing the techniques and exploring their abilities in ways they have not achieved. The lectured delivered by the Asst. Director was quite soothing to the participants as he was able to deliver the speech in local dialects. He also appealed to the participants to be dedicated to the project and actively involve during this short period of time. He further added that the prototypes will be displayed at Market test for a period of five days, during which, feedbacks, comments and suggestions from different individuals and Organisations will be collected so as to grade the prototypes developed by the artisans.

Smt. Agnibala Devi, Investigator, Office of the Development Commissioner (H), Imphal encourages artisans to take up their skills and participate in State and National award competitions, which was a refreshing news to skilled participants as this was a capsule of opportunity delivered to them first hand.

Shri Mani Singh, Circle Manager, Manipur Co-operative Society extended his gratitude for giving him the opportunity to express the essential and necessary structures of forming a society and how this can be of help to the community in general.

Dr Th Upendra Singh, Empanelled designer, O/o DC(H) had a short speech in regard to the designs and how to develop 41 nos. of prototypes during this short span of time and requested the selected artisans to sincerely participate in the project as this is a very good window of opportunity for them to expose their talents at national level.

Shri Th. Inaotombi Singh, Manager, Manipur Rural Bank, Moirang expressed his gratitude for inviting him as Functional President and emphasised on how to establish credit linkage with the bank and how savings and self employment can develop in day today lives. He also encourages the participants to establish credit linkage with his bank, and how important the public to the bank and vice versa.

The Inaugural function was concluded with vote of thanks from the President of the Organisation and a closing prayer from the local Pastor.
COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT:

Integrated Design & Technical Development Project in Artistic Tribal Textile Crafts was conducted during 1st February, 2014 to 31st July, 2014 at Lingsiphai Village, Churachandpur District, Manipur State, after obtaining due approval of the project from Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, New Delhi vide sanction order No. J-12012/160/2012-13/DS(NER)/3448 dated 30.10.2012.

During the six months training organised by M/s Society’s Abbatial Network for Greater Advancement (SANGA), Lingsiphai, Churachandpur; Dr Th. Upendra Singh, Empanelled Designer was engaged to design 41(forty one) nos. of prototypes which, later on was developed by artisans during the time of the project.

2(two) sets of each prototypes were developed and 1set of 41 prototypes alongwith documentations are submitted to the Assistant Director (Handicrafts), Marketing & Service Extension Centre, Imphal and receipts obtained are enclosed alongwith Accounts of Expenditure.
The project was successfully completed within the stipulated time.
